Zylient is the result of 20 years of frustration. Why do earthquakes kill so many people? Why do we build in flood plains? Or cliffsides?
We saw that decision makers and emergency managers were lacking actionable information about natural hazard risks in their communities. Neither a traditional civil engineering approach nor academic research was adequately getting information to the people who needed it most. It became our mission. We are dedicated to bridging the gap between the needs of first responders, emergency managers, planners, policy makers, and elected officials with the advancements and capabilities from scientists, academia, and the technology industry.
ANNA LANG OFSTAD, PHD
Founder & CEO
Dr. Anna Lang has worked for 19 years at the intersection of industry, academia, and emerging technology. She is an expert on the seismic behavior of masonry buildings and works globally on disaster mitigation and recovery. She proudly serves on FEMA’s National Advisory Council and several professional engineering committees on resilience of the built environment. Dr. Lang was awarded an Intelligence Community Postdoctoral Fellowship in remote sensing by the Central Intelligence Agency. She earned her PhD and MS in earthquake engineering from UC San Diego and a BS in Architectural Engineering from Cal Poly, SLO.
